Waiting.........I am waiting for this "heat"to disappear, truly it just zaps my energy 36C+ with the promise of storms & rain! Wow -anything is possible in the land of Oz depending on which side you live! Busy this week with school stuff, you know collecting the book list and checking it twice,buying extra paper & pens,washing the uniform after 8 weeks in the cupboard. This pic of a prim heart is quite old but worth repeating with February just around the corner and "hearts of all kinds" the flavour of the month! The school holidays seem to be consuming a decent amount of my creating time but this is my last official summer school holidays-as my last son will be leaving school at the end of the year!who ever thought 25 years of bus stop would come to an end ! Well l thought the bats would be suitable for tomorrow ( Friday 13th) so l am posting this today - me superstitious -hmm- l have thrown caution to the wind and doing something daring tomorrow! I am having a haircut from a complete stranger- my regular hairdresser has moved away so now l am testing to find another who can cut my hair -surely its not that difficult! Its naturally wavy, l never blow dry it, never- ever- dyed it, its shinny & healthy and just needs a good style-so perhaps Friday 13th will be lucky for me! fingers crossed! Sandra:;))

Our local town of Echuca which is situated on the Murray River is very busy with tourists at this time of year. The river brings all the jet ski's,boats,canoes,paddle steamers and lots of families out to enjoy the river. There are sandy beach sections along the river which prove very popular, l suppose 2 1/2 hours from Melbourne it seems an achieveable drive North. Also close by are some smaller inland lakes which seem popular with skiers and they are only 35mins away from Echuca. The Southern 80 Boat Race is back on again this year, returning to its normal dates in February. Gee l got sidetracked, above is Phoebe-Rose -she sold over the holidays! now more are required . With so many shows early in 2012, l thought l'd better stop lounging around and start tea-dyeing some fabric and get busy with some printing using purchased graphics! Plus this being the hottest part of the year, l wonder why l agree to these shows. Stuffing under the air conditioner isn't my favourite part! So far we have been lucky with weeks of reasonable heat but that's all about to change with predicted 40C+ days looming. This is an old pic,but the current ones are tea dyed ready for the next step! Oh, Happy New Year - I am sure if l blink it will be gone! Sandra:-)

Thought l'd better take a photo of the Tree before l start to dismantle it - just to prove l did actually put it up this year! Its not a really great photo because a window is a metre away and streams excellent light -l closed the blind and just clicked. You can spot a few cross stitch ornaments & 2 smocked balls, perhaps one is slightly out of sight! We have more space when this Tree is gone, but l like to leave a few special pieces out, just to admire a little longer. What did l get for X-Mas - some pink Mugs - just so the guys can distinguish which are mine lol - some books & bits & pieces. Sandra :-)

About a week to go! well how did x-mas sneak up so quick! Finished my orders,so now its time to start shopping,no not the presents!they are all under control. Its just the food part-how much do you buy-do l need this & that etc,should l leave it until a few days before and battle the crowds. I suppose we are lucky in Oz-it's summer-so we can survive on cold meat & salads for days after the event. Wonder what your favourite salad is ?l like homemade potato salad & curry rice salad. Oh,the pic - yes its an oldie-but l have repeated it so many times,I've lost count. Sandra:-)

In the recent "Handmade Magazine"on page 59, my website advertising appears with this X-Mas Gathering . I have 2 nearly finished ! I just need to add the rusty bells & hand sew the rusty star in position and they are finished ! The pipberry may vary depending on stock levels, but a pretty red berry looks just as stunning. This gathering is quite large/long which is hard to gauge in the photo and all pieces can be rearranged if desired. Sandra :-)

They will stay there over the X-Mas break and some will be reduced for Meryl's shop sale. Her shop entrance follows on from the road walkway-very easy to find & a dash of tinsel is on display if she is open! Prim Rosy is now appearing in the latest Patchwork & Stitching page 78 as my 1/4 page advertising. This doll has sold ! her body was covered in tea dye blotches. I actually made the doll first and soaked her in the solution - just as an experiment and it turned out wonderfully Prim! The dress was a simple construction which was also tea dyed. For something different l hand stitched the facial features and added bells & thread along the hair line which created one unique doll. I sort of was hoping she didn't sell so l could keep her :-) I think l have enough fabric left to make one more? Sandra:-)

Its nearly time to drag the tree out of the box from its hiding spot in the storage room and carefully unpack all the precious ornaments! Some are handmade from way back when l didn't really know much about craft until someone introduced me to a glue gun -l thought you just bought all the ornaments -but now l understand the pleasure from making handmade items. When l did a stint of smocking which consumed my life for a couple of years! there remains the odd smocked ball. Also when cross stitched was popular l kept a few special ornaments too! Hmmm perhaps next week when l have more time -as life is just busy at the moment:-) I might add this Santa to my website if l have time ! Sandra:-)

Last two left - well at least they match! I am going through all my stock -and will be adding more to the website and maybe l will toss a few ? or could l find another use for the item -if l unpick them and change things around! hmmm,Actually l have a yearning to do some more blanket stitch applique! every now and then l like to ditch the dolls and just enjoy some hand sewing and the more l deny this urge,the more l need to make something with applique lol. But alas 2 doll orders remain -which must be completed next week! perhaps l can just go through my scrapbox and find precious pieces to use in the next cushion/wall hanging. Sandra:-)

Ever felt like you need to tip toe around your own house lol - well Exams are about to begin and we need a decent noise level to be conducive towards studying! Oh,and don't forget the food - anything goes from fruit to 2 minute noodles,biscuit shapes,icy poles now its warmer! they do emerge for the main meals but scurry away back to the man cave for more study & the odd play station game!! this time next week -school is out for my youngest son ( 8 or 9 weeks-holidays) which must be filled with driving lessons if we are to achieve to 120 hours required for a car licence! The Mammy - yep is up on my website now. Looking forward to the final next week of "the one" wonder who will win ?

Look what l found ! these were half finished - so l rushed last month to complete them for the last show. As my table was quite small, l don't know if anyone actually saw them tucked away in the cane basket with all the other cushions? Anyway they are up on my website now for sale. Finally over this bug thingie - but heaven help me if the men get it -because l am sure "man flu" will take weeks to get over lol - sorry but l am surrounded by males and you just have to laugh :-) Ok, now its time to complete my final doll order which is waiting patiently in pieces - so l can start to think about buying X-Mas pressies for my family ! before the temperature remarkedly increases and makes the experience most unpleasant. But l think time is against me as its already increasing to 30C most days now. Sandra:-)

Just completed an update of my website! These are the last two left of these cute dolls made by a sweet meadows farm pattern, so simple yet so cute. I've used a soft salmon wool for the hair which tended to make them very popular. I might make some more next year when the shows begin again. Now hopefully you have clean hands when using your keyboard! because l am suffering from hayfever/sinus- whatever you want to call it!! its a dam nuisance when there is work to be done. I am washing my hands to keep the germs away from my son who has VCE exams,hate to pass them on ! As usual my dolls are deeply tea dyed - and no two ever turn out the same. Sandra :-)

Hi, l am back trying out this new post thingie, and it looks like my photos are going to remain in the middle and not the right as in previous posts? These 5 Santas will be added to my website in the next couple of days, not sure whether they will be available separately or as a group? Have you noticed my Events schedule for next year! thank goodness l bought a new diary and its already starting to fill and l haven't even thought of X-mas yet! We missed out on the huge rain which was predicted, it ventured over towards the East of the state. Just thought l would pop back and actually show you some doll pics,but from time to time l might add some farm pics just to keep you guessing. This Raggy Ann bag doll was suggested a few shows back, so when l add it to my website, hopefully it sells! As usual, l heavily tea dye my dolls and this is not seen as a fault! the dye has a mind of its own. And if l am not happy with the result, l usually re-dye to whole lot again-which makes it even deeper! Sandra:-)

A few have asked "do l live on a farm" well the simple answer is Yes a dairy farm and every couple of days l get to wash these overalls. There is no need to get all pedantic over the in grain dirt because it only happens again the very next day! The Hay( round bales )are all finished and now we are expecting around 50mls of rain in the next couple of days, l say "bring it on"because my lawn plus the whole farm needs a good refreshing watering. Can you spot our dog waiting patiently in the driveway for someone to return home! Sandra :-)

I made these cats a few years back and have decided to make a few more! sometimes l just like playing with prim designs and not concentrate on the pretty side of doll making! The Teddy Show has passed for another year and it was a shame that it rained all day! Upon travelling home there was no appearance of rain noted along the way! Currently sewing some orders in between primming, so they will be finished in time for the X-Mas season postage adventure. This weekend will be very busy! I have almost finished the last of the orders,then its onto packing the car for Sunday.

But I need to sneak in a birthday first,of course its mine, but l am not telling which day or how old :-)) These Red Gingers are proving to be very popular with recent advertising & private requests. CJ was born by C section this morning because he was 9lb5oz,he knew he had to wait for the doctors to decide what was best for him! clever little fellow already,and has apparently lots of dark hair. Dashed out and took lots of new pics! I have added four of these new dolls all dressed in variations of red to my website. This particular doll will be appearing in my advertising next year.....and will almost probably be sold before then! Just 3 weeks to churn through the orders before the Teddy Show and also create a few more cushions. I've purchased some more cushion graphics before the Aussie dollar goes too much lower -and found they were on sale as well! Fingers crossed that Tax doesn't get through parliament this week!! Firstly l'd better explain, l left my camera & patterns at home! So there are no pics to show of my wares at the Field days ! I had a great time at the Field days meeting many loyal customers and locals out for a wander. I would like to thank my next door site neighbours who added to the charm of the field days with their interesting conversation when times were slow. To Meryl who maintained my site when needed - so l got to check out the rest of the shed and do a spot of shopping lol Sold heaps, so my website is lacking products, which l hope to remedy next week. Over the past 2 days we have had no Internet! and l have come to realise, how much we all rely on it! just small things like banking,emails,sending pics,checking addresses etc, the spot of shopping. oh, and of course there are other members of the family on school holidays, who run out of phone credit and couldn't resort to the Internet & facebook! wonder if they actually know how to use the landline! But on the upside,l kept churning away at the doll making and achieved heaps! wow, perhaps l use the Internet more than l thought l did ? Fingers crossed that the Rain predicted for most of October is kind to us farmers who plan to make Hay or Silage!! and the field days are dryish to pack & unpack !

Nope your not seeing double, l just decided to take another pic of this gorgeous angel. This cream background seems to highlight my deeply tea dyed dolls,plus in this pic you can actually see the black wire wings! Gee just 2 more days and the school holidays are here for 2 weeks, wasn't it just hols the other month ? Oops, l will try again! Due to popular demand l have sewn/handmade 6 Phoebe-Rose's and will be offering them one at a time on my website. Hopefully a few will venture off to the field days with me! Phoebe-Rose is an old pattern of mine but customers usually buy the handmade doll due to all the completed sewing involved. It is something l don't normally buy, but l was drawn to this new range,l might even go back and buy more! Don't you just feel like sitting up a tree! yes this is a very old pic! you guessed l am too busy to take photos! So what have l been up to - eer- doll making in large quantities.In 4 weeks time on a Tuesday, l will be all set up ready to greet all the locals and regular customers. Sometime late last year, l purchased these graphics and proceeded to print on fabric. Of course l decided that they looked better on tea dyed fabric! so some were dyed before & afterwards -this is the pre-batch.I've added some small checks and here is the result -all ready for the field days.Now to work on those Santa's & Mammies which are often requested at the fields, in fact one customer always comes back for a Santa and gets quite cross if l don't have any LOL nah just joking, she knows to be quick or their gone!! I've lost count how many of these I've made, but its in readiness for the coming events. With just 6 weeks to go, its full steam ahead with the doll & decor preparation for the Field Days. I have recently found out about a New Indoor Market, which l intend to investigate next weekend! if its as big as suggested, it will definitely be worth attending & obtaining a site! Its currently Raining over here in Victoria - great for the crops, but not much fun at peak calving-cranky cows,calves,farmers & mud don't mix to well- :-)) Sandra :-)

Oops, l have put this Bag doll up on my blog, and l am hoping that my customer doesn't mind. I think its a pressie for later in the year, surely the recipient wouldn't be reading my blog ! Its a gorgeous apricot/pink floral panel dress and looks wonderful with the brown hair. Hey weren't we spoilt last week with temps up to 25C, now its back to 12C with rain/showers, we are grateful for the rain,its just in time for the cereal crops survival! Sandra:-)

I did something a little different on the weekend and attended an alternative workshop!No l am not going to discuss my talents, but it has confirmed something l always thought l could do! This Angel will be added my website soon! Of course l have used a deep red flannel for the coat,which has cute little snowmen all over it. This Angel has wire wings & holds a vine garland which is decorated with red pip berries & a flannel bow. She will be quite expensive due to all the embellishments eg. buttons........... Question, is anyone else having probs with trying to publish a post on blogger ? sorry if mine aren't looking or sounding the same, its hard to actually get this to work !!!! after 3 years l have never had this problem before !!

Sometimes l like to just have fun and start out with nothing in particular in mind and end up with something a little different. First l searched the cupboard and fun some brown felt, next l grab this cute pink owl fabric and started cutting around the owls! You would think with all the orders l have waiting, l wouldn't have time for this! but its nice to take a break and just sew/design. Not sure whether l should sell these? they could be used as pincushions? The fabric is very popular at the moment!!

OK, its probably not a word ! but l got a bit carried away with the pinkness of the doll. I tried several different types & colours of hair and decided this looked the best-a good old dash of fluffy pink-should do! Also finished another few to take with me to the Doll Show on Saturday.The show will be held inside a Hall,which is great due to the fact that they are forecasting Rain. Come and say "Hi" -there is an entrance fee but the money goes to charity-you never know what you might find hidden amongst all the porcelain dolls,old lace & buttons to mention a few.

This will be appearing in a Magazine Ad later in the year! but really its just in time for X-mas in July. See how deep l tea dyed my Craft decor! and l am still thinking it should be darker. Once you start on this tea dye tour its hard to stop at just a little. I dye mine so dark because after a decent amount of time ,it starts to fade gently -which adds to the charm of primitive/vintage wares. I've nearly finished my orders - time to play with a few designs for next weeks Doll Show. Sandra:-)

Decided to use one of my two doors today for a photo shoot! well what do you think? l like this dark prim type colour as a background -I still haven't decided whether to sand it back a little! but it is obvious that l do need a little touch up here and there lol. I also hand painted the floral buttons in the centre of these hearts -well l was truly in the paint mood and just continued on! In case your wondering the other door is a beautiful cream colour and looks stunning with the right doll & decor hang in position. These hearts will appear on my website when l have some spare time! Now l bet l have you guessing about the title of this post! You can leave now if you don't won't to hear about living in the country! For many years now we have had lots of neighbours with items stolen/taken at night. We have had a few close encounters but managed to keep everything intact. But now these horrid people have taken to baiting dogs! knowing that if they died they won't be replaced in a hurry.......truly why do these people think whats on a farm is free! Its been 12 years of drought-now floods-the things we all own are bought with 18 hours of labour a day!!lots of deciding whether it is worth the money etc,not for these free loaders to come and take!! These dogs they bait are usually hard working cattle dogs & great family pets & obviously burglar alarms! We will be watching our dogs closely-so if you live in the country around my area-watch out for a white ute travelling slowly!! Sandra

After nearly a week of school hols,l have found it almost impossible to sew for any great length of time.So when l need to fulfil my craving to create something,l am hand sewing these in between all the commitments. A few orders are still waiting-although half completed-l will try and finish them next week! Has anyone else asked the local shop owners in their area about slow sales! apparently since the crazy carbon tax hit the media -no one is buying anything unless its a necessity! A ten year low/on sales!! One of the papers even did a survey on this -truly families are going without !! Sandra :-)

Oh My, its July already! one month of Winter gone & 2 to go. I am actually one of those people who enjoy winter-well kinda. I like sitting by the wood fire sewing and eating soups & warm foods,snuggling under the doona and actually sleeping! In comparison to Summer where it seems never ending days & nights of extreme heat -l know which is more enjoyable! I've used this fabric in the pic before, where you might ask?do you remember my chenille hearts? this is the pocket fabric. Early this afternoon its the start of 2 weeks school holidays!! weren't they on hols just the other week!! More driving lessons here we come- 10 months to go! Sandra:-)

Over the long weekend this doll was sold, she's so cute l was sort of hoping to keep her for myself! Many ask me do l have a doll display at home, eer well, not really! l do keep some first attempts for a little while but then they are replaced with favourite dolls that do not sell. But if you want a number its around 12 which doesn't seem to intrude into the boys life style too much lol. I have a storage room where the dolls are carefully arranged, along with the other craft decor items. Once upon a time there was a keen designer who loved to create and take photos of her work. Then one day she up graded her computer and the photos have never looked the same? She has began to doubt her photographic ability but she keeps persisting! The Macro button works wonders but the computer still won't upload great photos to the website! She could go back to the old computer -but that really defeats the purpose of spending all that money -hope you enjoyed the story of the day to day efforts of a designer, who would rather be sewing! I will need to check my website because these have been sold-but l have made heaps more!! You might have to search my website a little more, because l have lost count of the number of items, l have added!This cute doll can either hang or sit-the dress has a lacey overlay effect in such a pretty pink.I trimmed the petticoat with lace to match & also used lace in her pink hair.Again all my dolls are heavily tea dyed-and over the years they are becoming darker! To prove a point from my previous post-l am not buying any clothes for the next 6 months-just need a few things when summer arrives! So l wonder how many others are doing the same!! Sandra:-)

Ok, l don't normally get into politics, but !! our *#* prime minister has stated we need the strength of the depression years to get through this carbon tax introduction!!! What! l thought this was 2011, not way back 60/70 years ago? perhaps she had better talk to some elderly people, it wasn't so nice back then!!NO, l am not that old, but l do remember the habits from my parents generation-some of them are not that pretty.In other words the consumers of Australia are about to stop spending-yes they are-if they can't afford SEC,phone,petrol,rent,food etc,why are they going to keep spending? I am adding all the stock which was left over from Craftalive & other shows.These two cuties are strung together to form a garland with a matching heart in the centre,this photo really doesn't show how vivid the pink floral is !! This is an old pic of a prim doll and l would love to be making more,but l have far too many other dolls waiting in line to be completed,before l even attempt to cut some out! The local town is humming full of tourists due to the school holidays & the Southern 80 boat race which was postponed due to flooding in February. Our road was flooded again this week due to 32mls of Rain. l suppose its like a permanent lake across the road attracting lots of bird life,which beckons me to take photos. This cute Bag Doll has been added to my website! Just quickly here! I've added 4 new bunnies to the website, only l will be taking more photos.For several reasons they turned out less impressive than what l set out to achieve! There was a gentle breeze,flies,mozzies,weeds,bindeyes & those flies were very insistent on being a nuisance to the photographer lol can't you imagine me swatting flies every second while carefully trying to hold the camera in the right position,meanwhile trying not to stand too long in the bindeyes!ouch!I am sure after some clearing of the under growth l can return with a fair better photo! The Doll show is over for another year and its funny the way things turn out. I always seem to leave the most popular or requested doll,item,product at home! Go figure!I simply can't take all the home based business with me,as l like to simplify and include a variety.This year my table was in the dark corner of the Hall? the light globe had blown?which is a shame because most of my dolls are quite heavily tea dyed and wear rich country colours.It all seems to add to the luck that l am having at the moment with family & work matters!! Maddie is now appearing in Vol 11 No 11 on page 76 in Patchwork & Stitching this week! Maddie is heavily tea dyed with lots of blotchy patches to achieve the Prim look. Her face is hand sew as well as her hair. Her lovely floral print dress has also had a good dunk in the tea dye! and I've added a cute wooden flower button on the bodice. The boots are painted & varnished which adds to the charm of this doll. I will be adding many more dolls to my website after this weekends Doll Show! Sandra:-))

Well you can probably guess this is the 3rd time the water has come through the property! between 50-100mls created this!these round bales sitting in water belong to the next door neighbour!Can you see the willywag tail in the tree sitting high above the water which is over our road again!the other pic shows the water coming from the neighbours around the silage stacks and through the middle of the property.If l were a duck this would be fun! If you check the previous pic you can see the mound of dirt protecting the house from the rising flood waters. With 5 immediate family houses effected to some degree, l will keep this short. The water has ventured onto Echuca now where the Campaspe river meets the Murray river! It looks like they were sand bagging all night -the local town of Rochester has started the clean up! The water has come inside my yard this time, you can't see the road on the other side of the trees-underwater! Also thought l would mention we have several family members here in Rochester Victoria battling floods! The water is higher than the 1956 flood level & the entire town has been told to evacuate! plus the water is on its way to Echuca!I went shopping today to stock up & now the road is officially closed.

Now l am not going to complain because this is nothing compared to QLD floods,but parts of Victoria are also flooding.The campaspe river is due to peak soon & the local bridge in our nearest town will be closed to traffic,which really divides the town in half. All the excess water comes out to our area/farm over 2 highways and several dirt roads, through our property and continues on! Only this time its wider & faster than on previous occasions! The post in this pic is my underground phone line! a bit crackly but it still works. Sandra:-))
